Abbots Morton

Welcome to our village's website

The village of Abbots Morton is one of Worcestershire's oldest and most picturesque.

The village's importance grew during the fifteenth century when the current church was built and when the Abbots of Evesham Abbey used Abbots Morton as their 'country retreat'. The moat that surrounded the Abbot's house can still be seen at the rear of the church.

Worcestershire's golden gem

Corner CottageThe majority of present buildings date from the 17th & 18th centuries and are 'black and white' half timbered cottages and houses.

The church however, shows signs of development from the 12th century suggesting the village could have been continuously occupied since Saxon times. Though no other building survives from the Saxon period, it is fair to assume that some of the current older buildings are replacements for structures from that period.
