Abbots Morton Residents' Association (AMRA)

Recent activity

AMRA held its AGM on 11th March. Following the official business of the evening, during which committee members Don Humphries, Nigel Cadbury and David Smith were relected; the 30 residents attending were entertained with a presentation on the Regency Period by guest speaker Paul Harding of Discovering History. Refreshments were kindly provided by the Humphries family.

Meeting - October 2015
The committee responded to a request from the Parish Council concerning funding community projects. The idea of AMRA was to compile a book detailing the history of the village and current photographs which would be made available to all households. It was hoped the book itself would become an historical document of the 20th and early 21st century.

July 2015
AMRA held it's first meeting under chairman David Smith. A number of changes were discussed amongst the committee members and a willingness to be more open and informative of meetings and decisions was agreed. The minutes of the July meeting can be found here.
One item discussed was the swift distribution of information to members. It was decided that email was the best forum to do this. Therefore, if you're a member of AMRA can you please let the chairman know your email address. The chairman can be contacted here. AMRA's next committee meeting will be on 5 October 2015, should you have any item for discussion please contact a member of the committee.

June 2015
Following the death of AMRA Chairman Cyril Burton, fellow committee member David Smith has taken on the Chairman's role. The whole committee will be meeting soon to plan AMRA's future.

Preserving the Past and Protecting the Future

This has always been AMRA's objective, it doesn't mean AMRA are against change, but are keen to retain as much as possible of the unique nature of the village and parish in general. Membership shows that you too share these values and the committee welcomes your input and views.

If you have not joined AMRA or wish to rejoin please consider doing so, membership is an annual fee of £5 per member.

AMRA remains involved in the current issues surrounding the solar farm, lending support and experience to the residents of The Low who will be most affected by this development.
